Well, finally got my sx today, and got it installed. Right now with 600 watts, it sounds alright, but really isnt that loud (definitely louder than the power acoustiks). I gave it a short burp of 1000 watts (400 clipped) and it was LOUD AS HELL, lol, then again i have nothing to compare it to but my power acoustiks and my buddy's pioneer 2000spl's or w/e. But anyways, if it was that loud at 1000 watts with 400 clipped, i cant wait till i get it up to 1200 clean watts when i buy an orion 1200d in a week or 2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif. All in all, i'm very impressed with this subwoofer, it is definitely a great sub.

One more thing, i'm not very clear on it, when i set the the output voltage on my amp, i turn my amp to all pass because the eq lowers voltage right?

how do you nkow how many clipped watts you were getting - lol.
maybe he has a 600wRMS/1000wMAX amp and is going by what was given to him.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Watts aren't split by clipped and unclipped, they are all either clipped or unclipped.

BTW, you don't want CLIPPED, turn it down.

Yuor amp puts out 600 rms x 1 at 4 ohm bridged whic hwould mean your sub is running in series. I dotn see how your getting 400 extra watts unless your trying to hook it up paralell . In which case you get the noob award for the day . Also if you craniing you bass boost to clip singal that isnt very smart either lol. I dunno why im postign all this heh .

Lol, i know that because that's how it was when i first hooked the subs up, i thought i had the amp set for 600 when my power acoustiks were hooked up, but something changed (was at 65 volts), i'm not exactly sure what, but i turned the amp down to 49 volts where it should be. That is how i got the short burp of 1000 watts, no, it's not because i'm an idiot, i know it shouldnt be over 600, but i ****ed up somewhere. All's fine now though.

No, you set your amp at LP (LowPass)
Just did some searching and found this...

Because the crossover won't reduce the voltage at all frequencies ... So, if you set the gain with the crossover on, you could end up going into clipping as you get further away from the crossover point ...
Crossovers aren't just a sudden drop-off. The crossover point is -3 dB and is often mislabeled. So, if you have a crossover set to 80 Hz, voltage will be down to 70.7% @ 80 Hz.

one major problem with setting your gains with a DMM...

impedence rise...

Same problem with your power calculation, as I'm sure that wasn't factored in. If impedence rise didn't matter... my orion 2500d is putting out 14,000 watts, instead of the actual 3300 tested RMS watts...

set it "properly" with a DMM and you'll never get the full potential of the amp.
