I met up with a guy and we figured out a box, tuned to 40hz, 1.3 cubic ft per sub and 2 ports 2 by 11.

box is

35wide

24long

14.25 high

the box will be split in half and subs wired for 2 ohm output, in a series with voice coils parellel

yeah from my experience with comp VRs they definately perform better in bigger boxes. and id personally tune lower than 40. but tis all up to tastes. how much power is each rockford putting out?

the RF's are putting out 300RMS and 40 was as low as we could get it with the room. I think it will pound hard and i am not going out to comps.

they are 10's these are the new ones. I have no problem thinking that they will pound hard. the are in a Escort GT not a SUV, so alot less room. That hatch will be filled to the tits.

Yes I know it isn't the most room but it is what I have to work with and don't want 2 subs or 3 I want 4. Their site says for SPL or deep bass that they need 1.75 to their specs but they are tuned high 40's on their site and this box will be tuned lower.

IMO you would have been better off buying 2-3 of those subs, or 3-4 of another brand/model whose requirements better fit your available space. You are compromising on your enclosure volume AND tuning. A daily system with too small of ported boxes, tuned to 40hz? Its gonna be peaky.

just run em sealed if volume is an issue..i had my 4 sealed in a 4-dr trucked car and was pretty impressed.

Yes it is going to be tuned to 40hz, what you mean by peaky....

I mean it will have an unnatural boost in response in the 50-60hz region (corresponding to the vehicle's transfer function probably) and virtually no output below 40hz (or much below it).

they aren't really spl subs to begin with, altho this is the thing, i wanted 4. i want one nice box instead of 2 side by side(i think thats ghetto) and i want it to be loud when i crank it up, i won't listen to it crazy loud everytime i am in the vehicle
