SX 15 - Problem or not?

So I was listening to music, and i've started to notice that the bass was sounding weaker than normal. So i pop my trunk, lo and behold my sub is playing the whole ****ing spectrum of sound. So i take a look at my amp to see what happened and it turns out the lpf/ap/hpf switch was loose and it went from lpf to ap, so i turned it back to lpf (taped it in place) and it still sounds fine, but it could have been like this for a while. Now, I know that if this were a tweeter and it were getting low frequencies that would be really bad. Is it the same deal with a subwoofer getting high notes? Do you think that my sub would have been damaged because of this?
