Okay first off my name is David and I am 17 semi new to ca. So I have 1 Kicker sx.1250.1 and a Solobaric L5 12 inch sub. 2 ohm in a ported box and 4 awg power and ground wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
1. The solobaric says peak power handling 1200 watts and Rms power handling 600 watts, so what is the difference between the two is my amp to powerful for the sub?
2. If it is not too powerful how do i set up my amp i dont want to clip my sub. It is more dificult then a regular amp because it is digital and has tons of features, they consist of: Lowpass filter, Highpass filter, Kicker Eq, Gain structure, and Kompressor, and others.
Low pass filter has two options frequency and slope- the frequency goes from 30 Hz to 200 Hz that goes in 1 hz increments, Slope from off to 48 dbin 6 dbs
The high pass filter same two options: frequency from 10 hz to 60 hz in 1 hz and slope from off to 24 dbs in 6 dbs
Next Equalizer has 3 options frequency, bandwith, and boost/cut
freqency from 20-200 hz in 1 hz sets center frequency
Bandwith known as Q from 5 to 10 in. in .5 increments
and finally boost cut boost or cut equalizer from -18 to 18 db in .5 increments
Phase change the polarity of the amp output from 0 to 180 degrees
Kompressor which is like a boost with redline, contour, attack and off
And Gain from 0 to 12 dbs in .5 increments, so as you can tell i got a lot of options to ruin my amp and clip my speakers so please help if your still reading next question o yea also my headunit is a panasonic cq-c7103u and my bass boost on that is usually at around +2 or +4
Second Question: I want to upgrade to the big 3 and change my power wire to 0 awg and the amp requires a 150 amp anal fuse but already my remote wire to my amp was disconnected to my headunit so it was like my amp was on for a very long time and killed my battery because the audio shop sucks around here and he ****ed up but basically my mom trips and makes statements like alias lol even though she doesnt know what she is talking about( i barely know what im talking about) so should i upgrade or will it drain too much of my battery. Also what is a good brand semi cheap battery that i can get and should i get it. I mean im not made outof money
So in all if someone can give me guidance on how to set up my amp so i dont mess things up, give me their opinion about upgrading wire whether i should do it in my circumstances or just leave it the way it currently is, and if you have wire 0awg, anal fuse holders for sell post them up, a good battery i would greatly appreciate and forever be greatful,
