Swollen Capacitors

Hello,

The search has failed me!

I have a JBL GTO.1201.1 amp on a JBL P1222 with 4awg ixos wire. Just recently the sub blew. (AHHHHH!!!!). I noticed that there are 4 capacitors on the amp that are swollen. Would this be related to the sub blowing? I was told they swell over time, is this correct?

Also, I have the amp taken apart and have the serial numbers of all the caps. Would it be worth soldering on new caps or just get a new amp? If so, should i replace ALL the caps or just the ones that are swollen? Does that include those huge *** ones?

Thanks

I see this a lot on computer motherboards, the main capacitors swell and eventually pop. I don't know exactly why it happens, but it isn't uncommon. If you're handy enough with a soldering iron, and can find matching caps, I'd just replace all of them.
