y they stealin my bucket?
i dont believe this topics been discussed before, but i'm going to a community college takin up CADD (computer aided design and drawing). i took one semester, and decided it wasn't for me. i learned quite a bit of useful information, so it wasn't a waste of time at all.

this next semester starts in 2 weeks, and i kind of merged machining classes in with my cadd classes, because machining interested me at the time. anyways, this morning i was looking through my career book, and i found a few other careers struck my interest. biochemistry, microbiology, and maybe biologist. I've always been interested in chemicals and all that, and thats always been my strong point.

Just curious if anybody here has taken any of these classes can give me some insight on if its what im looking for, or if im in the completely wrong direction

i googled it and couldnt find much info, just examples of how successful people have become from it. Also how important they are- designing airbags, tempered glass, etc.

also: what are you majoring in, maybe it can spark some more ideas. thanks!

I'm majoring in natural resources management.

If you aren't happy with what you are majoring in now, change it. I think that you will enjoy college/jobs much more if you enjoy doing it.

I just got my BS in biology and it's relatively difficult to find a decent paying job. In biology related fields, it's hard to make a lot of money without going to grad school unless you really look. You're gonna take classes like genetics, evolution, molecular bio, chem, organic chem, cell bio, human physiology (my fave), etc. I never took microbiology but I heard it's pretty interesting. You gotta really be into chemistry and biology if you're gonna go into biochemistry. A helluva lot of the biology majors absolutely hated biochemistry classes including me.

word of advice, if you're going to switch majors then do it early.

Plus community college is cheap. You can much easily afford to take classes you don't like there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sort of in the same boat as him. Just graduated from a 2 year school with a "Associates in Applied Science, Networking" I'm a shoe-in for Frostburg State, but they are heavy on programming, which i am NOT into at all. Been doing alot of soul searching, and am thinking of taking something to do with the preservation of historic buildings/antiques, or even some classes in car audio. Can't really decide where to go from here though, as Frostburg doesnt offer anything like that. I'm bout burnt out with comp science, as it just doesnt interest me much anymore.

Look at it this way. If you are looking to be a chemistry major like myself you will need to do a lot of reasearch before stepping into it. A friend of mine is going for a biochemistry major and a required corse for her masters is studying theoretical carbon chains in 4 dimentional space. I'm in AP chemistry right now and it is equivilant to Chem 2045 at the University of Florida. FYI that is the lowest chem course. AP chem is a chellenge to say the least.

I didn't have a class in college harder than my AP Physics class.

i'm majoring in EE (electrical engineering)... headed towards a master's degree in EE as well as my MBA

great stuff, i love it. if you like math, i'd look into the various engineering fields. great paying jobs, HUGE job market.

if you don't like math, stay far far away from engineering, particularily EE.
