Switching between speakers with different connection mechanisms

Hi there. I've had a 97 Accord for quite a while, in which I installed Infinity speakers in the doors and rear. I recently bought a 99 and want to put the Infinity set in it. I started to today, only to discover that the 97 speakers have the little clips that crimp the wires and slide onto the terminals, while the 99 has the harnesses/plugs attached to the speakers. Any advice on the easiest/best course of action? Thanks!

i was just having a discussion about this this morning....... i usually do one of 2 things:

either clip the stock pig-tails 4+ inches from the plug, and keep those with the stock speakers, or..

tap into the stock harness about 4-6inches back with the new wire, and then fold the stock wire with the plug back over and tape it to itself.

both methods allow for returning to stock easily in the future. then again, there is also another thing i do, which is to tie off the stock wires, and run new ones to a higher powered 4channel amp, lol.

i solder new terminals to the wire that are sized for the specific speakers. i then use heat shrink to insulate the assembly. works well.

most people i know end up regretting not being able to go back to stock for free when they sell the vehicle.
