Took out the 2 12" cvr's and went with 1 type r 12" in a 2.36 ft^3 sealed box and it sounded great but smoked in 15 mins of hard play. I left it plating while I cleaned up the tools and didn't smell the burning, got it replaced and called alpine they said the box was to big for sealed and said I should install a port 4" x 15" long.

Thought about the elbow to make the port lenght and had my son looking for the formula for volume of a cylinder (because the 90 adds volume) when a friend turned me onto a port calculator and I went back to the info I had saved from building the box and found I was wrong its, 2.55 with the woofer, so I went with an 11" port and that tunes the box to a little over 31 hz and it sounds good, clean and seems louder than the the 2 cvr's, I'll try and hook up with the mic and see, it did 135 on a termlab with the 2 cvr's hope to be at least equal with the type R we'll see.

type r's **** i sold my 10" r's and got 12" SI BM's they are so much cleaner sounding.
Well let's see....you moved to a dual 12 setup from a dual 10 setup and the 12's are better woofers. Of course they are going to make the Alpines look bad, that's not even fair!

Type R's can hold their own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

.... All he said was they sounded much better. That's generally the case when you buy higher quality products. Don't really see where size of the moofer plays in the equation for sound quality //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I agree that the size of the driver doesn't really improve the quality of the sound....sort of

See I was thinking more about Sq at the limits of the woofer. Obviously, a 12 would have a much easier time producing the same volume and sound that a 10, at it's limits, could make.

Hey guys, thanks for the help and the conversation. To the type r's **** guy if you don't like my choice of speaker or for that matter any thing else I choose to discuss here or anywhere on the internet then I'm sorry, what if I popped into one of your treads and said that dodges **** or maybe even that 17 year olds **** or that somebody that has probably never worked a day in his or her life and gets or takes money from his mommy to buy his sound sucks, that would **** but I would never do that because my mommy taught me respect and manners and made me work for what I have. I had a pretty good idea that someone was gonna bring the negitive comments as soon as I typed, type R, but hoped that I could get some useful advise.

Scott
