I currently have sprint, but the choice of phones is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif .

Id like to get an unlocked razr, and continue with the sprint service. How do I do this?

The phone I currently have is this one:

Ive read conflicting information regarding whether or not I can do this with sprint, so anyone with knowledge of the subject is appreciated.

BTNHfan, I dont want Verizon service.

Basically, I just need to know if its possible to switch my Sprint service to a different phone.

Were you saying that the razr isnt a good phone?

Yes you can switch it to a different phone. When i did it, it only took a few hours, they told me that incoming calls would go to one phone, but when i wanted to call out use the new one. It was weird but it only took a few hours until the new phone worked like it should.

Thanks. Can you explain how I would do it? My phone doesnt have the sim card, so how would I switch the service?

That's pretty much all I've been doing today....

Basically, it's like this. There's a file called a PRL that defines what "carriers" the cell phone is gonna look out for when scanning the e-magnetic spectrum. Inside the PRL is the System ID (specific to location & carrier) and the capabilities (whether it's analog-only, digital, analog+digital, pcs, etc.). When your phone is programmed, your System ID (SID) is assigned to you (called your home SID=non-roaming). Verizon has its own PRL, Sprint has their own PRL, etc...So basically it's just a matter of putting a Verizon PRL on a "Sprint" phone, for example. The cell phone most-likely supports the different protocols (AMPS, CDMA / TDMA, PCS). It's just a matter of getting the phone to look for & utilize them. That is unless it's GSM.
