i was thinking about purchasing four Swiss Audio SPL-1091 subwoofers, these subwoofers run at 4 ohms each with an RMS rating of 600, I have never actully heard them before and since there are no\\absolutley no Swiss Audio dealers located near me the only way i can purchase them is through the internet. I didnt know if anyone had heard these subwoofers before and had a good/bad rating on them. Specifications on these subwoofers are extremly hard to find, as of right now ih ave searched for 2 1/2 hours and can only come up with the ohms, RMS ratings but thats about it. None of the places seem to know what the recomended sealed box volume should be...If anyone has these subwoofers or anyone knows what the sealed box volume should be your help would be greatly appreciated

i myself was thinking about buying swiss audio at first since i have a volvo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif but i opted the MOFO15 instead. I'd still go for a swiss audio over a PA IMO.

yeah... i was wondering, do you think it would be louder with 4 12" Swiss Audio subs or would it be louder with 2 12" Kicker L7's? i think the Swiss audio mayb e louder but then again i have never heard them before so i cant say much about this topic.

also since im new to car audio i havfe a quesi\tion. is there anyway without hearing the subwoofer first be able to tell if it will be louder than another. Like read the ratings on it or something?

example: once Swiss Audio-1291 has Efficiency: 93dB, is this how loud it will be, because one of my friends that had one Kicker L7 15 inch and he went to a sound competition and he said he got in the one 140 db's which i was like sweet but on the website the rating is only like 85 i think.... maybe im wrong?

But yeah, the previous statement about Swiss Audio being owned by Audiobahn's owners is correct.

I do not know personally but I hear through the grapevine that Swiss Audio subs are generally a better product than the 'Bahns.

But - that really isn't saying much, is it?

well i was running swiis audio spl 1290's and they are awesome, as a matter of fact i have a pair for sale if interested. and yeah 4 12" swiss would own two 12" L7's and they sound good doing it. that 93 rating compared to the kickers 85 is an efficiency rating. generally, the more efficient something is means that it would take less power to achieve the same level as a less efficient sub. Also, itried mine ported and sealed and liked the ported results much better. my box for 2 12"s was 3.5cf tuned at 35htz. that came out to a box about 15" high by 17" deep by 40" long.
