Sundown vs kicker

That means squat jack. First of all those specs can be skewed and done before breaking in. Secondly that doesnt take into effect enclosure design, tuning if ported, or the power you have them on.

Sundown is better, but I've never had bad experiences with Kicker subs.

Ok,

JL audio 12w7(yes I have owned one) and a DD3512(have one of these to)

SD and xmax are all in favor of the W7 by far but the 3512 literally shits all over the W7.

On paper those specs may mean alot and say one thing but when the actual driver is put to use in the "real world",

they dont really mean squat anymore.

I would love to do a test on this. I sell JL, but im not saying its better than the Sundown at all. Im just curious how it shits all over the W7. The only way that you could test this accuratly would be to try them both in a ideal sealed, ported, bandpass enclosure with exact RMS power and the same music. This is how they are tested when you see the head to head sub test in the magazines.

I guess I work at a "overpriced car audio shop" that cares about my customers enough to sell them product that last longer than most customers own their cars. You can bash JL all you want, but you can't take away the way that their product performs. Anyone can make a woofer in their garage and sell it on the internet, some of them are even popular and some of them are even good. I wasn't actually promoting JL in this post until now. I just wanted to know if anyone had done testing head to head in a car with the same variables. And specs are specs. Theile Small priciples are what all speakers are rated under. Specs don't lie(unless its a mystical 1000 watt amp with a 25 amp fuse). People say that Sundown will outperform a JL W7, cool PROVE IT. I dont think its asking for much. BTW I think the 12W6 would be a better match-up against the Sundown woofer mentioned earlier. I am not trying to ruffle any feathers, I just would like to see actul physical evidence to back up the statements. Sorry for the rant.

why do we have to do a side by side test for these two woofers? you know what the outcome is going to be. we all know what the outcome is going to be. the only thing JL has over sundown is SQ. and stop stayin, " oh well have you heard the two to know?" bunch a bs..

I would love to see some actual data to back the comment on this thread. Like what is the real world displacement of air on a Sundown vs. Kicker, please add model number. Stuff like that will actually tell you which is a "better" sub. And for the record I don't use kicker and have never tried the Sundown(but might like to).

I can feed an 2 SA8s 1500rms daily in 2cuf tuned to 29hz and do a 142.3 @30 sealed. I dont know much about JL but I have seen enough reviews to know they wont take 190% rated power daily. It also costs me $30 for a recone not $400.

personally I love me some TREO SSX with a nice 3" econowind coil that takes my 40.1 at .5 daily and doesn't think twice about it

LOL....LOL....LOL....LOL....LOL... your funny. As I mentioned I am not trying to promote JL, but you did it for me(thanks). I did SPL for years, I now understand what you are talking about. You want a woofer that sounds like a loud fart and can only "perform" on a test track or a over clipped low crest factor audio track(A.K.A. modern rap). With that being said, I think the Sundown is a better woofer than my previous sentance. I just want to see proof of how good it is. Its like your taking this personal or something.

That sounds really impressive. I love a set of killer 8's in any vehicle. What kind of a/c voltage are you getting out of the speaker wires with out the subs hooked up?

Im not sure how this became a pissing contest. I just asked a simple question and its like you think I shot your favorite goldfish or something. BTW, the best way to make a point and have people beleive you is to not contradict yourself in seccessive posts. And once again I will say that I think the Sundown is a better sub than a loud fart producer, but I just want to see proof before I can recommend it to anyone that I know.
