The xfl should get louder than the r

My XFLs get much louder than my friends Type Rs on the same power. Of course a lot of that is probably the install, so take that for what it's worth.

Type Rs just feel cheap to me, but of course they're only $150 each. Not bad at all for the price.

Also, I'm not sure that this should be a concern, but you may want to use arauco/birch for your enclosure if its going on a boat, because moisture (even in the air) will cause MDF to expand

i have it, it takes up to 1.2k before distortion and heat takes over.

Although i heard a sundown SA 8 V.2 and it was louder than the alpines and they were only on 500 rms and in a much smaller box.

You're doing something really wrong if an 8" sub is louder than your 12 on less power. A single 12 is over twice the cone area of an 8

SA8s are good subs, but there is a pretty big gap between the size of an 8" sub and a 12" sub

idk 1.75 cubes tuned to 35 hz, fiber glass resined, with smoothed out corners and 45's to boot. 1600 rms hifonics amp but it only actuallly puts out 1200 rms clean power at one 1ohm (alpine was a 2ohm) from my friend's clamp test. 0 gauge all around, and duralast gold in front kinetik hc1800 in trunk.

but honest to god the sa 8 was louder. Maybe its because his was in a hatch back and mines is in the trunk? Both of our trunks are dynamatted.

yeah i was p1ssed that his was louder too man. But at least mines sounded better.

his was tuned higher 45 hz in a small box with a really long aeroport ran off an alpine 500 @ 2 ohms.

Cant really compare a trunk to a hatch.
