sundown saz 1500

is it stable at .5 ohms? if so how much power does it put out at .5?
There are tons of people running them at .5Ω daily, but I'm pretty sure Jacob no longer warranties them if being ran at .5Ω, so you may want to be sure you know what you're doing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

http://www.sundownaudio.com/warranty.html

"This warranty does not cover improper installation, accidental damage, misuse, abuse, improper wiring, operation of unit outside of listed specifications, or any product that has been modified or repaired by anyone other than Sundown Audio."

The good news:

"1) If your amplifier has a blown power supply or damage from excessive vibration there will be a charge for a warranty replacement within the 2-year policy:

* SAZ-1500D and smaller amplifiers (or any future model under 2000 watts) - $30 in the continental USA (AK and HI add $15)

* SAZ-2000D and SAZ-3000D (or any future model 2000 - 3000 watts) - $50 in the continental USA (AK and HI add $20)"

Generally a failure from 1/2 ohm operation blows the power supply... as long as you are in the 2-years and have the original invoice and the amp is in good physical condition it is pretty cheap to get it taken care of.

Oh wow, I had never actually seen the repair prices, but that's amazing. Haha, so cheap! That's great Jacob, just curious, is this warranty work done by you or is it done through dB-r?

It's all in the warranty text.

#1 assumes the amp is within the 2-year period, the customer has their invoice, AND the amp is in good condition. It is actually a *replacement* amplifier.

For amplifiers with excessive wear and tear:

"3) For either free replacement or flat-rate charge replacement the amplifier must be in at least "fair" condition. Amplifiers with excessive wear and tear and/or physical damage, as deemed by the sole discretion of Sundown Audio, will fall under the following stipulations:

* Blown power supply or excessive vibration damage will be fixed by db-R Electronics and customer will be charged for actual repair and shipping costs.

* Amplifiers that qualify for free replacement but are in less than "fair" condition will be repaired by db-R Electronics at no cost to the customer."

Other scenarios also described:

4) For any of the above it is assumed that the customer has shipped the amplifier back to Sundown Audio properly packaged and it has been received without physical damage from shipping. As stated in the current warranty text, "In the event of shipping damage due to improper packaging of the return the customer is liable for the cost of all damages, necessary repairs, or replacement."

5) After the 2-year policy has expired the 5-year discounted replacement policy will be in effect for 3 more years. The cost of the discounted replacement will vary on a pro-rated scale based on the physical condition of your returned amplifier. This will be handled on an individual basis - replacement cost will start at around 1/2 of MSRP cost for units with excessive wear and tear and/or physical damage and decrease for units in excellent condition. As stated in the current warranty text, "This offer applies ONLY to the original purchaser of the unit and is not transferable like the 2 year limited warranty."

I see what you are saying atsaubrey, but if he has two D2 subs though for example, then it's a gain of nearly 700 watts.

He may already have the subs in a D2 config, and he can only wire to 0.5Ω or 2Ω, 700W is a pretty large difference.

Ah well my apologies for not reading the warranty text from your Website Jacob, but I'm on a school computer and it will not load Sundownaudio.com.

Thanks for giving me the info anyways though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
