sundown SAE-1000D mod?

You want to stick it in the SAZ heatsink?

Technically you could if you cut one down to the right length... the board is the same width as are the end panels. The SAX-100.2 heatsink is the closest match in length.

I suppose you could even just inset the end panels if you tapped new screw holes for them.

I doubt it, the 1500D is grossly underrated if given more than 14v.
Indeed... I'm not exactly sure if he means performance or appearance mod at this point.

As for performance... there is no way whatsoever that the 1000D design can make the power than the 1500D design does.

I used the 1500D on my BTL @ .50 ohms with 14.8v and it was just above 1750w per my bench test. I cannot see "Any" mod to the SAE 1000D being able to match that type of power.

It won't, period, you are exactly right.

PS: How did you run your test? Clamp meter? Any idea what actual impedance was? Just curious //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am saying per "my" bench test, but it actually wasn't. I had a buddy of mine do it here @ Exotic Car Audio. They had a few things hooked up to it, including a DMM, laptop, batteries (Dual 2400's). I guess in a way I am only going by what they did.

Edit: I didn't notice that you asked about impedance. It is a 12" D1

Jacob, I think that may have been @ .35 ohms instead of .50
Indeed, that is the DC Resistance of a Dual 1 BTL in parallel. Just wondering if they told you actual impedance at the test frequency //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They may have, but I was too excited about busting their chops on not-so-well known companies.
