im not sure if i want to go with aeroports or not. what do you recommend? are they that much better than regular slot ports for the SPL oriented?

Slot ports aren't as easy to adjust, you'll basically have to build a new box.

I highly recommend them. IMO they are better all around for daily or spl setups. They are more efficient meaning less needed port area and are easily adjustable for tuning changes. Typically my setup is tuned high for comps but I can swap ports in a matter of a couple minutes and drop my tuning down to 33hz for some nice flexing & ground pounding.
