Sundown Audio SCV-1500D

Hi,

I am interested in picking up one of the Sundown Audio SCV-1500D amps which will be powering a FI Q 12" in my 05 F150. The SCV if you didn't already know is the new line of Sundown amps which is the same as the SAZ amps except they capped the max voltage to like 15 Volts rather than 19 Volts. I am planning on doing the Big 3, HO Alternator, and an upgraded XS Power Battery.

The thing is that if I do all of those electrical upgrades I am afraid my voltage might go over the max 15 volts the amplifer is capped at. Ive seen people get close too 15 amps at idle with fairly minor electrical upgrades and I think it will probably go even higher while driving.

Do any of you have any advice? I would just purchase a SAZ-1500D instead but they are discontinued. Thank you to anyone that can help.

if the alt you get is internally regulated you will be fine, if the alt is externally regulated then just dont turn it over 15v since you control it

Thanks! So you can limit the max voltage the alternator will allow?? Sorry I don't know much about alternators. If it's internally regulated what's the max voltage it would get too? If it's external how do you control it? Thanks a bunch

if its internally regulated, alts generally run at 14.4v. When its cold they will get close to 15v but as they warm up the voltage goes down. i dont think that would hurt it but im not sure. im sure they didnt make it that sensitive to 15v.

maybe @sundownz; can shed some light
