Sundown amps: What makes them so good?

CS is nice but doesnt help to much.
You think? What if Jake was like some of these other companies who didn't care about their customers. I have to say I disagree and I have yet to contact an owner of an amp company (other than Jake obviously) and talked to them one on one about a possible problem with their products. I guess I don't see your logic? If I ever own my own business customer service will be the most important thing. If you don't have happy customers, then how in the hell do you expect your business to succeed the way you want it to?

To OP,

I have to say I'd rather own the Sundown over the kicker because of the fact that its a small company trying their best to produce a good product that rivals many other amps. Plus no one around here has Sundown except the people I sold to. I'm not saying that Sundown amps are the best amps ever made, but they are an excellent value and good solid amps that can take abuse. Eventually I will run all Sundown amps again but getting my first 1500D is what made me like their equipment so much.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I really can't say whether the build quality is "excellent" because I do not have the expertise to make that judgment. Hopefully I can distinguish shitty from good, but I can't look at amp guts and tell good from excellent.

What I can say is that in my exerience the amp does what I expect it to and I have had zero problems with it. There are other amps that fit that bill as well.

When choosing between two quality amps I am going to give the edge to the one sold by a guy who I know is a decent person that has a reputation for being easy to work with. I once had a question about my amp and Jacob responded within 15 minutes of the time I sent him an e-mail. I don't know of too many companies whose owner is that accessable. Why not give him my business?

Random Fact: The Sundown 1500d has the exact same number and size of output transistors as the Stetsom 7kd

Is that good or bad? lawl
To safely pass power to a speaker it has to go through the output stage of the amp, which consists of the output transistors. The more/larger output transistors the greater opportunity to pass power through. Either the 7kd is underbuilt horribly, or the 1500d is overbuilt ALOT. My thought is a combination of both...

CS is top notch. When I blew my SAZ-3000D instead of repairing it he just sent me a brand new one. Not many companies will do that. Also they have a 2 year warranty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Jake is an sq nerd so.... the amps are made to sound nice.
I also tend to believe that one quality amp is going to sound similar to another.
Thanks.

That is transferable. Comes in handy since so many of us like to change equipt just for the helluvit.

Still I believe that there are some sonic differences even between mono amps. I have had the Rockford BD 1501 and Crossfire VR 2000 amps. For me, the RF sounds better than the CF. It has a faster, more accurate response. It may have something to do with its bd technology, slew rate, or damping factor? Not sure though. What I'm sure is, it sounds better.

It's probably the wires. You used different wires.
