Sundown 1500d vs Orion 2500??

thx! i've never been on that board so thats why I must have been in the dark about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Its a great place for technical information. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

hi i used to own a Ferrari and a hond civic. i can get them for the same price. what do you guys think i should get. OP your a douch. if you owned both then you know what was better for you. i doubt you owned them or you wouldnt be asking this question. get some headroom *****

Wow, where do I start, I could lay into you, but seriously thats not my style,

If you bother to do a search, you would see that I sold both a pair of Orion 1200ds and and Sundown 1500d on HERE over the last year. I enjoyed both amps when I had them and they both worked fine. I had no issues with my 1200d and bought it brand new.

I loved my Sundown trully hated to sell it, and Jacab is a outstanding person has always answered any question I had. I just wanted some opinions on the subject, period.

But since your such a wealth of knowledge, please tell this grown A$$ man what else he has and has not owned. I asked a simple question nothing more, nothing less.

The subs are DVC 4s, wired in parallel for a 1ohm load.

To everyone else that gave a intelligent response, thank you very much it was apperciated.

If you have a DVC 4 ohm, then how are you only getting 1200 watts from the 2500d? At 2 ohms they do 1700 watts. I agree with Jacob... if you are worried about warranty and service, get a Sundown. If you just want power and are pretty good to your equipment the Orion is a better buy. Just don't plan on running the 2500d much below 1 ohm and you should be fine.

I have a pair (2) of Dual 4 RL-ps 15s wiring together for a 1 ohm load (parallel)

since you owned both why do you have to ask this question. if you are good to your equiptment why wouldnt you get the orion. the question just seems stupid to me because you have experience with both but want someone elses input

I have both. I own an Orion 2500D and a Sundown SAZ-1500D and I could tell you a few things about them from a repair/amp tech perspective.

Orion 2500D: Very powerful, high current output section. Has lots of reliability issues with age, buy new or less than 1 year old IMHO. Expensive repair bill, lots of parts, lots of labor

Sundown SAZ-1500D: Also very powerful, more than a 1500 watt amp, it's a little underated. Higher Voltage output section than the Orion. Very good reliability, less weight, less space taken up, looks as good. Not as powerful as the Orion 2500D, but much more reliable design, way less repair bill if it breaks, about half the repair bill of a 2500D.

What are the power handling of the subwoofers in question? I see they are dual 4 ohm, I am not familiar with them. I always like to have more power than necessary for subs, that's my preference... Headroom makes for better sound. Wiring at a higher impedance should help sound quality too. Depends on what you want from your system, SQ or SPL?

For SQ, with lots of headroom, 2 SAZ-1500D's or 2 Orion 2500D's, one on each sub @ 2ohms.

For SPL, I'd drop both the SAZ-1500D and the Orion 2500D, and wire them @ 1ohm and go with a single SAZ-3000D.

And thats understandable, for you to have your opinion, thats how it is, my thing is I dont like the VS threads that people make every week on here when a simple search would solve there problem. That was a legimite question that I asked, thats all. Just didnt need the flaming, but its cool.

Thats really what I needed to here, ive been concern about Orions holding up in the long run, not putting down the amps just stating the obvious. Sundowns have a much better track record and personlly, even though its a lil less power, I would feel more confident with a used 1500d that a 2500d but thats just me. Thanks for that response.

Subs are good for around 900 to 1000w RMS, but they can handle more than that but dont need it really, they are very efficient. I got to get a vid of one of my free air off about 200w and show the excursion that thing does.

is sundown really that good. people would rather have 2 saz1500 = 3000w compared to 2 2500d = 5000w. im unfamiliar with both amps, but it seems like 2000w extra power would be better. i have seen lots of threads of kicker vs orion and sundown vs kicer. and from most peoples post sundown wins. not dissing sundown but i dont see how people compair 2500w amps to 1500w amps.
