Sun Down Vs Sound Stream

i aggre . but do u realy think that the XXX wont take 3000 daily
If you're set on running 6k, why not check out the mach 5 spl 15? That way you could double your cone area, put up nice numbers and still have a sub that will play great for daily... Just an idea

Just curious, what kind of electrical system will you have?

i aggree with all youre guys responces but i will prolly only have the gain half ways up on either set up
The gain is set on 1/3 on my Sundown, that doesn't mean it's putting 1/3 of the power. If you set your gains low and keep your volume low on your deck, you'd be fine. But if you turn your volume up, that's when things could get back.

my daily was going to consist of 2 stetsom 7kds :/... I rethought it over and i'm going with a single 20.1.

I bet cash i'll still be louder than anyone semi local with their 6k lanzars PER legacy sub.

Lol at your avatar. And yes, you're completely correct on being louder than the locals.

my daily will consist of 2 nightshade 18's and a single sundown 3k. Plenty for daily and probably enough to win a few shows. There is no point in running 6K per woofer unless you like reconing subs or something.

Man that avatar be banging. Looks at all those highs and...highs!

In all reality though 2 7kds would just be too much for daily, I used to be obsessed with getting as many watts as I could fit in a 2 door hatchback //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif but for daily, would I really need it? No. I went from wanting to do 8 12s, to 2 18s and I am more than happy I decided that. I think I just wanted to say I was the loudest or had the most watts out of the 50 car clubs down here, and I wasn't in one..lol. Finally decided I didn't care what others though, I want a system for me, with items I wanted in it that I could listen to all day and still impress people at the local car shows.

to the OP, it all depends on how you look at it. I wanted the watts/big system to impress others. I decided I'd rather be happy myself than worrying about others.

Anything can get loud, how loud.. is up to you in the end.

understand but ive heard 4kw for daily 3 kw for daily and i was impressed with the output. but for me i want and need it loud. I aint doing it for anyone else but me . What can i say the feeling when the bass hits is ORGASMIC. BTW i will be porting LOW 28-30 hz walled off. honestly both set ups would be insane but i have to decide . im getting a great deal on either set up(cant say prices) but can say one hell of a daily driver. Like i said its for me not for the public but i still would like too see 4 15s nightshade. but for the price im getting the xxx i cannot complain . I know few people on here have had great success with that woofer . and i know they can take 2500-3000 daily. BTW I WANT JAKE TO MAKE A 5kw amp

Even Meade doesn't listen to his system any where near max potential for long periods of time, 'daily'. Those huge RF amps aren't even designed to put out that ridiculous amount of power for very long (less than a minute iirc).

yup i seen that . But I ain't going to bump at full tilt all day just for sideshows and most of the day i will be using only half of both amps so 3000 rms for daily. who thinks 2000 rms to each woofer is a bad idea . I see smaller woofers take 2kw daily

You still haven't answered what kind of electrical upgrades you have.

You do realize that 6000 watts rms is over 1200 ampere's of current draw at full tilt, I don't see anyone with a daily set-up that is capable of sustaining that much amperage demand.

Secondly your not taking into account, a thing called thermal compression. Once the coils get to a certain temperature they absorb less current, you are loosing efficiency. You can break 150dB with a great box build and 4kw.

If this is for daily, even a XXX would have issues dispersing all of that heat, and it would 'possibly' even have mechanical issues with 6kw @ 28 hz.

Just to give you an idea of the cost to run a daily 6kw set-up. You are looking at 5-6 runs of 1/0. 4 group 31 batteries, and at least a triple alternator setup. And that is for a bare minimum. You probably still wouldn't be able to full-tilt your system for more than 30 seconds with the car on.

1200 amperes? how do you figure?

well the way i am planning it its going to be 6-7 batteries dual alt set up and 5-6 runs of 0 GA BUT LIKE I SAID NORMALLY IM ONLY GOING TO BE PUSHING 3500-4000 watts .Now on bass race, full tilt when needed.

1200 amperes? how do you figure?
Ohms Law is your answer

I=W/E

I=6000/11= 545

Saz-3000d is ~70% efficient @ 1ohm

800 amperes of current draw possible without clipping.

I know that I was popping 300 amp fuses with saz-1500d's in competition when I really got on them. I know part of it was due to lower voltage. I stand corrected though, when I talked to Jacob earlier he said it was a little bit less. A pair of saz-3000d's could draw in excess of 1000 amperes of current full tilt.

12kw daily rofl

6kw is NOT 1200A draw. If you can sustain 12v, its only 715A playing 0db sine waves. Don't see where you get the extra 40%. If you get the alternators and batteries to back it up, you can lower that an extra 100A to 615 @ 14v.

Runnin 6K plus to a SS XXX daily, and it loves it.
My opinion is that I love single subwoofer setups that are setup for daily doin 150's + POWER FTW!!!

XXX gets my vote
The single coil doesnt love 6k+ watts. It gets loud as heck off it, Im sure, but Im sure it doesnt like it.
