Suggestions for 6.5 comp for Camry

I've been working on my 94 Camry XLE 4door and getting it to sound nice. I'm doing all the install myself and I'm a noob. Most of my stuff is used except for a decent deal I found at Best Buy for the Alpine 9847 on sale.

These forums searches are great for finding out how to get my crap stock hu out and how to take things apart.

Alpine 9847

used Alpine MRV-F400S powering front 6.5+tweeter(stock) and rear 6x9(stock)

used Bazooka 150.1 amp powering a single sealed 10" RF Punch sub

I know I haven't got the expertise to tune the amp/spkr setup right now but I was hoping to get some decent suggestions on some new 6.5 comps and 6x9 rears. Ideally, I don't have much in power tools to make spacers so I'm hoping it'll be painless as possible.

From some searches, I heard of Infinity 6010CS, CDT CL6X, CDT CL61A.

I just don't know which speakers will sound good given the Alpine MRV-F400S amp that I have.

If I need spacers or adapters since I read that I can't just mount up to the stock mount holes, where can I buy some spacers?

I'm not looking for the loudness...just the best SQ given what I've got.

Thanks!

Fronts only tends to give the best SQ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif -- in most people's opinion...

Also what are the specs on that amp?

What is your max budget? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also I would do something different for the subs if you want SQ... (sell the amps/subs -- and add some more money to your budget)

After we figure out what is going on we can give some solid advice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif -- It will get you almost all of the best options out there -- from there it is just picking and choosing what is best for YOU personally…

with a 4 door i would run rear fill, people in the back dont only want to hear bass. the only way i would ever run rear fill is with a credible time alignment system and with a 4 channel amp.

The Alpine MRV-F400S amp is 40W rms x 4. I have 2 channels to the front and 2 channels to the rear so I can fade f/r and balance properly. Is this enough info on the amp?

I would like to keep the budget to $150-$200 for the front 6.5 comps and probably around $100 for the rear.

I saw on cardomain that there's a set of Phoenix Gold Octane R 6.5 comp that is suppose to fit my car according to their fit suggestion. What do you guys think?

I don't have alot to spend so that's why most of my stuff is used. I keep the car looking stock so that when I do park in bad areas in Chicago I don't get broken into. That's also a consideration for the sub since I can't go thundering along and get the wrong attention and then get my car broken into. Right now, the sub is giving the low end okay and filling in the bass where it was missing before.

Is time alignment expensive? Is that something a novice want to get into? As of right now, I am still trying to search through forums to find proper advice/guides on tuning the hu and amp that I have so that I can get it work well together.

Wow, those PG Octane R 6.5 comps are only $84 @ cardomain. For the price, that's great. I haven't heard them and haven't seen them at the local car audio install shop.

I have a 95 Camry, and the max depth is 2.75 inches without a spacer. Let me know what you decide to get, I need some new componentsalso. Running a single speaker with bad midbass is starting to irritate me :p

When I randomly ask, a popular pair of speakers in that price range are the Oz Vectors, though those seem to be around $120. There is another guy here who always recommends the Octane ZRs (Mackenzie?) though not many people tend to agree with him.

As for rear fill...if you ride with people in the back a lot, just bridge your amp (if able) and just run the rears off of the deck. If it's just you or you+1, don't even bother wasting money on them. IIf you do decide to get them, some Alpine models have timing alignment, so check your manual to see if yours does. I know my 9830 has the ability to do it, but I don't have rear fill speakers.

How do you figure?

Anyways if someone bashes them, more than likely they havent even heard them. I wouldnt suggest trash to anyone. The zrs are definately worth taking a look at, and imo are unbeatable for their price. If you havent heard them, then dont make statements at all.

I look at it this way: if I come here looking for recommendations, I'll always go with the popular opinion since more samples is always better. When it's just one guy suggesting something that no one else seems to agree with, I don't take that as a good sign. It's not a knock on your rep at all, it's just that I'd rather spend my money on something that multiple people have heard and recommend to others. The Octane ZRs may indeed be the most badass sub-$100 components ever, but that doesn't change that I haven't seen many people agree with your suggestion.

Weather or not people have heard them or not, I will still stand by the product, and suggest it, because I feel that its a good product, weather or not anyone has heard it or not. He asked about them, so I told him about it.

That's fine if you feel it's a good product; I never stopped you from expressing so, I simply stated what I had observed on these boards. Speakers and car audio in general is very subjective, so one review\recommendation doesn't hold much weight to most people. I wouldn't believe a guy if he said $50 Pioneers rock his socks. If you know people who have them and also recommend them, get them to speak out, because as of now, you seem to be the only one.
