Suggestion for 3-way setup? 560 Dollar Budget.

Ok, so in my other thread I was asking about opinions on going from 2way to 3 way. I currently have CDT m6's with a DRT-26 tweeter and passive crossovers. I'm thinking about doing a 3-way setup. I'm unsure if I should try and just add to what I already have, or start fresh, even with a different brand? I have a JL 300/2. Would I need more power for a 3 way? Or should I get like a 450/4 or something and try to go active through my amplifier? I have 560 dollars to spend. If I decide to sell the m6's, crossovers and tweeters, that would increase to about 700 I'd imagine.

Any input? I'd like to keep my current headunit, even though it doesn't really support going active. KENWOOD KDC-X991

I really want something thats going to wow me, and anyone that gets in my car. I know install is important. I plan on making a custom glassed panel for the bottom of my doors for everything to sit in, so its nice and sealed up.

Thanks guys. Going to keep those in mind. Another thing I was contemplating was going for something with a larger midbass driver. Since I'm going to do custom panels, I could most likely fit a 7 or an 8. I've heard that makes amazing midbass like no other. I really want something incredible, even if I have to save up more money. Anyone ever hear of Morel ELATE 9? I was referred to those as well.

*Edit: whoa. just noticed that the ELATE 9's are 1400 new. Thhhaattt is a bit out of the price range.

Does anyone know a 3way comp set that has a 7,8 or 9 inch midbass driver thats around 600 dollars?

I have first hand experience... Very high on the install list... It needs to be perfect! Secondly, they are very laid back... Sometimes even if you want them to step up a little.. They are laid back... They are also out of your budget that you posted.

It would help if you gave us a definitive budget so that we could help you adequately.

Ah yeah, I guess I'm getting a head of myself. Well, like I asked before, do you know of any comps within my budget that have a oversized midbass? 8 or 9 Inch? I know CDT makes a 7 inch midbass driver. I really want a solid midbass upfront, as I'm coming from some m6's.

Are you wanting to DIY or just buy an off the shelf 3-way set?

Off the shelf is easier to get running but IMO you're choices are limited.

DIY allows you to pick and choose drivers that work better for your situation and goals. Plus if you buy a driver and you aren't happy with it, you can sell it and try again, it's a bit harder doing that with an off the shelf set.

You'll need 6 channels of amplification to do a DIY 3-way front setup, and the processing to accompany that many channels.

For a cheap setup, there are a lot of drivers out there that won't break the bank.

For tweeters. Take a look at offerings from Seas and LPG (madisound.com)

Mids, there's Peerless, Vifa, and Dayton (Dayton can be bought from partsexpress.com)

Midbass, the Peerless SLS drivers are a great choice, again as well as the Dayton RS series drivers.

You can probably buy a 3-way set consisting of a 1" tweeter, 4" mid and 8" midbass for about 250, then spend the rest of your budget on processing, amplification and installation goodies.
