Subwoofer workage!

a short answer...

electricity creates a magnetic field, magnets also produce a magnetic field... two fields act upon each other pushing one part(the VC) away from the other(motor), moving VC cause the attatched cone to also move. movement is in a sinusoidal nature, just like a sound wave, the air surrounding the diaghram is excited and transfers the motion of the moving assembly into an identical sinusoidally shaped wave which the human ear percieves as sound.

Ahh, both helped bunches, thanks.

When a company, take Adire Audio, says "motor", they actaully just mean the voicecoil assembly? There is no actaul motor, per se, in the speaker?

they are generally talking about the top plate, bottom plate or back plate, and magnet slugs
