Subwoofer wiring question :n00b:

Hey I just got a Sounstream 4 channel amp thats rated 180 x 2 at 4 ohms bridged. I also just got an Adire DPL12, which is comparable to the Shiva. The sub is an 8 ohm dvc. Now to get the 180 x 2 out of this am I right to say that all I have to do is wire each channel to each voice coil? Im not good at figuring out ohms but will this be a safe setup? Set your gains with a DMM and you should be straight, but aren't your coils 8 ohms? The amp will put out significantly less power at 8 ohms x 2. You might look into investing in a good mono amp that puts out 500w or so at 4 ohms. Wire the sub in parallel, and viola! BASS!

A DVC 8 Ohm sub wired in series will give him a 16 Ohm final load...

Ok gotcha. I also have a soundtream reference 300 thats rated 300 x 1 bridged at 4 ohms. So if I wire the sub in parallel and hook the amp up in mono this should be a nice match. Thanks guys.

yes you want parallel for a final 4 ohm load
