Subwoofer upgrade for a new Challenger

Looking for some recommendations for my first upgrade. I have a brand new Dodge Challenger that has the 7 speaker Boston Acoustics system with a subwoofer. The 8" subwoofer is mounted in the center of the rear deck and is powered from the 368 watt amplifier. The subwoofer is useless to say the least. I have no plans to change the head unit and will change out all the speakers eventually.

I plan on removing the installed subwoofer and tapping an Audio Control LC2i into the wires, adding a mono amp and a 10" sub in a box (probably sealed). Am I doing this correctly and before going into a BigBoxStore, what recommendations do you suggest. Looking for an amp with a low draw as I'm not looking to update my alternator on a car with under 1000 miles on it. I listen mostly to rock and 80's rock music and would like to keep it under $400.

Well, I haven't gotten any advice yet but I have been searching the different threads and the internet in general. I think for quality and price, American Bass TNT 1044 or the XFL 1044 will be my choice. For the life of me I can't figure out the correct size of a sealed enclosure for these subs. Any recommendation for 1 and 2 sub box cu ft.(sealed)??? Also, PPI seems to be well liked, can anyone suggest a model for 1 and/or 2 sub box please.

Hey mopar, i was thinking of installing an 8" sub in thE precut hole in the deck. Will save me about $250 from getting a box and 2 subs. Are you saying having a sub in the deck is basically useless? I think it has to be shallow mount too.

Look on my thread in the systems recommendations forum. Is titled 1st system for a 1 week old noob. Rt in the thread gives 3 websites for good challenger boxes. Check Ebay as well.

I do believe the 2012 Challenger SXT offered an upgrade to the audio system that included a rear deck mounted sub, so I would assume the cutout is already there. Easy enough to check from under the deck. The current sub installed in my car is useless and really a waste. I don't think installing an 8" sub and an amplifier is worth while. How would you seal the speaker properly. As far as boxes made for the Challenger, I still need the correct cu. ft. needed for my specific subwoofer(s).

1-1.5 cubes. Sealed enclosures are forgiving so anywhere in that range will sound nice. Both of these subs will pull apart any of the cheap prefab boxes, build ur own for the experience or pay for quality. The tnt 10 will like 400-750rms and the xfl will take 1k++ all day but will need a ported enclosure to excel. My opinion is a PPI Bk1800.1(gained accordingly) on an Xfl in 2cubes ported would slam!

Thanks, this seems the way I'm going to go.
