Subwoofer tuning

I have no idea what it is meant by subwoofers being tuned at a certain hz...so guys help me out...

you tune a box to a certain Hz, not the sub

in simple terms

generally its box size if its sealed

box size and port size if its ported

you still can tweek it a bit with an adjustable x over but only if the box is right. then after you get that down you can start messing with best per environment boxxes that run alot larger generally that either allow you to get louder and or sound better.

yup, it's all about the box construction, and each box has a certain hz that it peaks at and puts out the best sound with

That, along with the tuning frequency, are what determines how the sub will sound once in the box. So yes, it is extremely important.
