I ve heard that putting a small ammount of lighter fluid on your subwoofer surrounds can help keep them flexible and make tem last longer.. Anyone heard of doing this if so does it work.

You would think to use something that would "moisturize" the surround, specially if its rubber, right? Lighter fluid would just dry it out one would think. Try it out 808subz, and tell us if it stays nice and soft or becomes brittle and falls apart.

Try it then. I doubt it, it would be like rubbing alcohol and it would most likely eat through or evaporate quick and take with it what moisture is there.

Sooooo, what happens if you put this stuff on there and it "happens" to absorb and stay in the surround some how and you play you music and it sparks and catches fire? ...While your goin down the road and you like WTF??? You pull over, and little do you know that opening you trunk would be like opening the cap on a hoot radiator and you get blown away. Would you then think it was a good idea? I dont think so but I want to know the outcome. But Ill let you be the contestant to try it...

Well I really think its a baaad idea, and who ever told you that is a certified dumbass! And jus like mossberg sad it WILL ruin the surround. Dont think Id use it on foam either.

Lighter fluid?? I wouldn't recommend that at all. Try using armorall or any other moisturizer to keep it from potentially cracking, I know the eclipse titanium series had that issue but i've used armorall on my SW 9152 and have had no issues
