subwoofer rms question

i have a jl audio stealth box with two 10W1v2-8 now these woofers are rated individualy at 300 watts but the box says 600 watt power handling so my question is would this be a better set up for a 250/1 or a 500/1? what is the real peak of this box 600 or 300? please help im confused right now i have a 250/1 on it and they hit hard as hell but would love to make a amp work less if i could so can do the 500/1.

power based on the subwoofers....

the box may say 600 because it was built with those woofers and 300 times 2 is 600

so 500/1 will be fine ?? not to much power so the box can handle 600 watts then so the 500/1 will give each woofer 250?? am i right or way off?
