Subwoofer rebuild/recone questions?

Hey guys, I've got a few questions about recones that I would like to have cleared up. Let me start off saying that I am pretty much a noob when it comes to car audio. I've installed car audio before, but have never done any recones or taken any subs apart.

So I bought an Eclipse 88100Ti a short while ago, and unfortunately it was damaged in shipping. The basket was cracked in two places. Everything else is fine, including the cone. Is it possible to remove the cone and reuse it? I would really like to keep the cone, as they don't make recones for the Ti's anymore. And if that is doable, what is the best way to remove the cone? Do I have to remove the dust cap as well? And next, would I basically be able to transfer everything over to a new basket? If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it, I would prefer not to have this sub be a 40lb paperweight.
