subwoofer in the ceiling

I cant remember if it was the show "this old house" or not, but they did a multiple sub install from below. THe subs were mounted in sealed enclosures and neatly tucked away in between the floor joist. According to the home owner it sounded really good. IIRC, it was at least 10 years ago that I saw this.

NO, it is NOT a sealed box in the attic. You use the entire attic/basement/whatever as the enclosure, and the wall/ceiling ans the baffle that separates the front wave from the back wave.
I understand this but what IF you did build a sealed box?

any specific reason you are wanting to mount subs in the ceiling... i think a ported enclosure would be much more louder and efficient
Of course it will, but its nothing compared to the sound of IB, I have heard a home setup and it was incredible...and low
Plus it saves room, you can hide it, O and did i mention LOOOWWW. I want a house just so I can do it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
