Im trying to find a new pair of 12s. 9 times out of 10 i will be running it off a JBL 1200.1 unless there is some other type of amp out there better for the money. I was thinking about 2 kicker solobaric L7 12s but his guy was tellin me how it breaks in the corner or something like that. But i am up for suggestions. Its going into a 96 Accord if that helps also

there really is no great difference between the L5's and the L7's, except that one has a black cone, the other has a silver cone. but i've heard of no cracking in the corners, although i guess it is possible

This is the difference between the L5 and L7....after reading it, might wanna glance at the author of this passage...

"I have been asked the difference in these two woofers - so I asked and this is the answer I received. If you have more questions, I will get Polecat to answer - you hear that Tracy?

The new 2002 L5's are almost identical as the 2000/2001 model L7's. They have the same power handling, and specs as the old L7's. The only major difference is the L5 has a steel basket vs. a cast aluminum.

Now the new 2002 L7's have a few small motor changes, they have a new re-designed back brace, have better low bass output, new titanium injected cone, with a few mods to the cone, new cosmetics, new front/rear gasket for better sealing, wider surround for more Xmax than before, and a few smaller cosmetic items. So to boil it down, we needed to make a woofer that people could 'step' into from the Comp VR, but was better priced than the L7.

So the idea of a woofer that can share the Solobaric name, yet come in at a great value, the L5 was designed.

yeah, like i said, no monumental difference. i'd still prefer to save the what, $100 or so? and get L5's. while the L7's look nicer yes, i don't think it's worth the extra money.

It's like $50 more...I'd personally go with the L7's, they can handle more and a lot more for burps and such...

does the shive compare to the ED k's? i was thinkin of runnin 1 12" sub in my 6.5 cuft box and i was wonderin on a good sub for this application, i would also like dual 2 ohms, so i can blow my amp take it back to futureshop and get a better one.

i prefer a lil more spl than sq but i dont wanna sound bad. urgh, im confused about what i want. Oh well, any other good spl/sq subs with a lil bit more spl than sq out there im not lookin into?
