subwoofer help!!!please!!!!

Ok,i currently own 2-audiobahn AW122n 12's that handle 550w rms/1100w peak each.I put them in a 1.5 cu.ft. per chamber slot ported box and they do not sound good at all.they are powered by an audiobahn A4801T amplifier.I think the slot on the box is the problem.Reason:there is 1 slot that is being shared by both subs that is in the center between subs, in which i think there fighting for the same airspace,also the slot is:3"wX11 3/4"hX12 1/2" d.I even tried putting the subs in my old bandpass box and it sounded worse.Any sugesstions???do you think they will sound better if I build a ported enclosure to the specifications shown in my manual ?Thanks all

I would comment about how horrid audiobahn is, but I think the problem is in the box as well.

You have a shared chamber ported box on two 12s. You are probably right about the fact the subs are fighting each other for vent volume. A fix for this will be to build a separate chamber twin faced box. Also, the audiobahn subs are horrid for sound quality. Some of the worst sound quality subs in the audio market at this time. What I would recommend doing, use the numbers and calculate a box tuned to 27Hz. Make sure the box is a separate chamber slot loaded for low port noise.

Also, if you put the speakers in a box that was not set up for those speakers, it will more than likely sound like cr ap. Especially if it was ported.

Best bet is to scrap the audiobahn subs for something else plus get a box that recommeds the right airspace.

keep the subs u have and buy or build a box to the specs it reguires and u should have no prob what so ever

Audiobahn does get loud though. My friend has two Audiobahn 12" Flame Q subs with a Memphis MC-1100D amp and it hit a 148. Your setup is probably the problem. If you set it up right, you can usually make any sub sound somewhat good, or atleast mediocre. haha

But yes, Audiobahn is still CRAP.

My friend and i were talking audio. And i'm no expert in any sense but he was saying how he got such a good deal on ebay....blah blah blah. I told him what i was getting and he was like "300 bucks for a 15inch sub?!!! I just got 2-12s boxed for $200" so i asked him what brand and he said audiobahn everything and i just smiled. When my sub get's here i'll be sure to let him listen.

The setup is ok. Not great but ok. Sounds like box problems. Port a box to the specifications, tune it to 32-40, let her rip.
