Hi all,
So it's been about two weeks since I've done my audio install, and I've had lot of help from the people on the forums, so thanks alot!
My setup is:
Pioneer DEH-X6600BT Head Unit
Pioneer 12" TS-W304R 4 Ohm 300W RMS Subwoofer
Pioneer GM-D8604 1200W 4 Channel Amplifier
JBL 6.5 Coaxial 180W Speakers
I did everything myself and to the best of my ability I have set the gains on the amplifier by ear using a 40 Hz test tone for the sub and with the loudest music I could think of for the speakers so I get no distortion up to 50/62 on the radio (I believe it distorts at 51 according to research).
I play my music at around 40/62 for a really good balance of loud, impactful bass and strong mids and highs, however lately, and seemingly randomly, the subwoofer is alot louder. It's shaking the car a lot more, and the bass hits are much more impactful.
I've only noticed this the past few days. Today was a good example, I drove to work playing my music at the normal 40/62, however when I was leaving to come home, the sub seemed to all of a sudden double in power, and I was driving home at around 25/62.
I wish I had a decibel meter so I could measure if I'm going crazy or not, but it's just something I've noticed.
The door speakers are on the amp too but I don't notice them getting any louder than normal, it's just the subwoofer.
Any ideas on what could be the issue or am I going mental?
My first guess is that perhaps the RCA I'm using for the sub is broken, so I'll be checking this first thing tomorrow.
Any other ideas?
