Subwoofer change advice

I've owned a Rockford T112D4 subwoofer (2006 version I think) for many years. I've had it in like three different vehicles and in several different boxes, from ported to sealed. I'm looking to switch to something else, probably a 10" sub that excels in smaller sealed and ported boxes. I would like to find a sub that has better SQ than the T1 but still has good output. I've looked at the SSA Demon, the Sundown E-Series and the Dayton HO. Does anyone have any suggestions on a 10" sub? I'd like to spend under $200 for the sub. Thanks.

All 3 of those you listed are nice subwoofers. The Dayton ultimax is the best sealed sub from Dayton I think. Wouldn’t be my choice in a ported setup, but in a sealed setup they might be my favorite sub.

I'd like to spend under $200 for the sub

There is a guy in Somerset that was selling a 10w6v2 with ported box for $225. Do not know if he still has it but totally worth a check. Search it in the local Craigslist.

I've never used SSA products. But they have a very good reputation. The Dayton HO will work in a smaller enclosure ported and work well sealed. I wouldn't seal the sundown, but in a proper ported enclosure it will likely get louder than the Dayton, but I would prefer the SQ of the Dayton personally. The Dayton can be ported in .75 cubes also. So it will perform well in a very small enclosure. Dayton or SSA. Hard choice for me. I'd love to try an SSA sub. They look very nice.

What do you consider a small box? A small box to me is two cubes or less. Personally I'd go with a Demon 12" in two cubes. They're on sale as well.
