Subwoofer Box For A Lancer

I want to make my own subwoofer box, and i was wondering if anyone has done this with a mitshibishi lancer es 06 model. and how they combated the problem of most premade boxes sit halfway over the spare tire.

Would these dimensions work alright with a Kenwood KFC - W3012DVC 12inch sub 400wRMS

Height 14 inch

Width 19 inch

Depth 9 inch

This gives a total volume of 1.385 cubic feet and the recommended for the sub is 1.25 cubic ft

Would these dimensions work, what sorta sound do people think it would make?

Those subs arent very good to be honest. Hifonics HFis are much better if you are on a really tight budget(I have used both, neither of them are great but the hfis are better than the kfcs.) Do you want to go with a sealed box?

i would like to go with a sealed box as they seem to be the smallest option, i havent bought the sub yet however, i am looking to purchase the sub off, RYDA.com.au - Great Prices on Car Audio, Mobile Phones, Digital Cameras and GPS Navigation as they seem to be a heavily discounted site, the prices on there are in australian dollars, and i am in australia, i am looking to spend roughly about $800 (australian dollars) on the sub, amp and front split component speakers. is there anything on that site that would be a decent sub, or decent brand to have a look at.

Well in my experience, the Kenwood subs aren't the best. You could probably do better and stay in the price range. I'm not sure how Australian currency transfers to American but I know that on Sonicelectronix.com the Kenwood woofer you are talking about is $65 shipped Kenwood KFC-W3012 (kfcw3012) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix.

Some other good options that are comparable and that don't cost too much are:

Kicker CVR's - $90 shipped Kicker 07CVR124 - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

Kicker Comps (downgrade from a cvr but still good for the price) - $65 shipped Kicker 07C124 - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

Hifonics Brutus - $70 shipped Hifonics Brutus B12D4 12-inch 1200W Car Stereo Subwoofer/Sub

Alpine Type-E - $70 shipped Alpine SWE-1243 (swe1243) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

Personally I have heard all of these myself and they are all good woofers for the price. I have a set of alpine type-r 12's and I love them, so if you can pay around $150, then I would definitely go with one of those.

You can find the Type-r's anywhere really. Amazon can be helpful sometimes if you're looking for good prices on any subs or other electronics so just type in the type you want on amazon.com and it will list a variety of sellers of that sub or amp or whatever it is you search and give you the prices in descending order.

well i only want 1 sub, as i really do not have the room, and it is my first sound system so i can get a feel for it. where abouts can you purchase type r's from online cause in australia they charge about $399 for them which is about $366 for 1 in USD

Yeah i know you just want one i was just laying out some options. I got my Type-r from sonic electronix Alpine SWR-1242D (swr1242d) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix. The sub is $129 and the shipping is about 135 to Australia because their warehouse is based in California. So altogether you would be paying about 265$ american which I am guessing is around $300 Australian. I really don't know of a better place to get one for cheaper. Does Australia have craigslist lol?
