Subwoofer and amp suggestion 2000 watts

Hi,

I currently drive an 08 Chevy tahoe. I have 2 x 12" Punch rfd1212 subwoofer in a 4.0 cuft ported box. They are being driven by a Punch 800a2 bridge amp at 4ohms. I have one capacitor and a yellow top battery. I am looking to get a smaller box like a 2.0 cuft a single woofer but get the same type of performance or even better. I was thinking around 2000 watts. I have been seeing all these brands like Sundown, FI and DC. Not sure which way I should go.

I have been out of the scene for quite a while as you can see by my equipment. Not sure what is out there these days. My budget is around $1500 for the sub, box, amp and any electrical upgrades I may need. What would you guys suggest?

The FSD FZ2600 amp we also sell would be a nice pairing for it. And, luckily for you Mechman's 250 amp elite alternators (putting out 200a at idle) are on sale right now. Since you already have an underhood AGM, adding something small like the NorthStar SMS80 would be more than sufficient.

Total cost during our Tax return sale:

SDA3 12: $320

FSD2600: $308

Mechman 250a elite (regular $599): $399

NorthStar SMS80: $180

Total: $1207 including shipping

That leaves you $300 for power wire and a box, which is more than enough. And it gives you a solid electrical system in case you want to upgrade in the future. I'm personally about to buy 4 of the mechman 250 elites for my Tahoe while they're on sale. If you really wanted you could even wire the 2600 at 0.5 with that electrical system, but be aware that wiring under 1 ohm voids the warranty and I would recommend some fans to help cool it.

If you dont mind, could you tell me if the alternator is only required after a certain amount of watts? Is that a standard addition to a 1000w system?
