substage decision... 15" hd315 vs 2 12" mags, vs 2 12" hd312

i am currently planning out my substage. first i was thinking of running a single 15" hd315 by audioque with a kicker 2500.1. then i thought, with the same power i could also run 2 12" mags. however since the mags cost so much, i was thinking of buying 2 audioque hd312's and powering them with the 2500.1 for now, then in say 4-5 months when i can afford another 2500.1 and another battery running a 2500.1 on each hd312. would the hd312's with 1200watts each be louder than the mags with 1200watts each or would underpowering them make them sound like shit? (the hd312's typical power handeling is 2500watts daily) thanks for any help

I've never heard Audioque products first-hand, but I'd be extremely surprised if they can match the musicality of the Mags...

I know all about the musicallity of mags, i had a 15 mag in my car, that is currently in my home theater... i just want something that sounds very good and gets stupid loud (it will be ported with the box sealed against where the seat folds down... no sound will be in the trunk..

The audioques can be very effective with a small amount of power. I'll give you an example. I ran street B last year at a show while just chasing points with a 400 watt amp and with 2 AQ HD3 12's in my ford explorer. I put up a 148.3 with only 400 watts. Yet on that same setup with 2 Z1's strapped on the subs it would do over a 154. The subs are very efficient considering the power they are capable of handling.

As far as the "musicality" of the AQ's is concerned, they will sound good. The best you ever heard, ???? who knows. Depends on your taste as much as anything I guess. They have a very quick response. I think they sound much better than the mags for music like metal or anything with a very fast kick drum beat, personally. They are a little harsh at times though.
