I got a rockford fosgate amp, i believe its 1200 watts and 2 channels. I am beginning to learn, especially from here about all the car audio shit. So i have a shitty 15" audiobahn SE sub that i want in the dumpster. I'm thinking about getting 2 12"s... maybe JL audios???? I got about $450 to put into a box and sub's. Would the jl 12 inch w3's go well with the amp?? If so are they the best for the money... Any help would be much appreciated, I listen to all metal... 12's the best thing for that?? I need 'em hitting hard. I thank you kindly, i apologize for my rampant idiocy when it comes to this sort of thing, i have pictures i will add to this thread short of the amp if it would be helpful. Thanks.

I can probably manage to handle a few more dollars being put into the car system for now, but i want to keep it minimal. It's going into a hyndai santa fe, with stock deck and speakers, that procedure will be next.

450 total. . . so then i would get a custom box... lets say 150ish if you can find someone to build it for you local. . . 300 for a pair? One thing comes to my mind. . .. Alpine Type-R.

Let's start here before we go trying to honestly make recommendations ~

What model RF amp do you have? If the "1200 watts" is something you're getting from stickers or labeling off of the amp itself then I would suggest that the 1200 claimed watts are going to be peak wattage numbers and as such is a rather useless number for any purpose other than marketing.

It's the RMS output numbers that we need to be able to make an educated suggestion as to what subs might be appropriate for that amp while staying within your stated budget. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's one of the R.F. P5002 models. I could have sworn it was a 1200 watt amp or 1400 watt, but investigating it I can only find 500w and 1500w amp. I know its a p5002 and 2 channel its a couple years old at most, bought new. Anyways... if any help can be given from here that would be lovely. I'll get some pics up today when homework is done. Thanks.

What would ya say the best 12's would be in general for the money!? costs being $500 tops with a box, for all metal music. I know there are plenty of preferences, where would JL aduios rank with your opinions?

And i take it 2 12's would be a lot louder than one audiobahn 15" hooked up to this thing??

Thanks again.

If you want, in that range there are alot of subs, I would go with http://www.mach5audio.com/product_info.php?cPath=48&products_id=41&osCsid=6afc1
comes down to personal preferance I guess, you would have some money left over for getting a box built also
Thanks man. Those are pretty ****ing cheap indeed, sounds like it could be a good buy. I dont know what my preferences should be exactly, i just need my metal to hit hard as possible and to sound clean with the amp i got.

Well, you only have 250 watts per channel.... or 500 watts bridged. That being said... you will need to find two dual 4 ohms twelves and wire them in parallel to get 2 ohms per woofer, then getting 250 watts to each sub. The w3 do have dual 4ohm but I think they will want a little bit more power than that. BRYANK said his was birthed at 690 so that would get you 345 per channel, if this was true then you can probably go with 2 JL 12w3d4 or 12w3v2d4 .... If you want to go cheaper... check out mach5audio.com You could get two MAW 12s. There may be better choices out there... If that birth number is wrong, I probably wouldn't go with either of these choices. If you only have 250watts I guess someone else may have to chime in to help you.

NOW THEN, what about one woofer?? you could get some dual 2 ohm woofers and wire in series to get 4 ohms and have 500 watts on the woofer. Or you could get a single voice coil 4 ohm woofer and put 500 watts on it.

Those mach 5's are really cheap. If I were to get those I could probably afford a new amp... This may be a retarded question, but is it feasable to run 2 amps into 2 12"'s?? Or just get one much better amp to run through the 2 12"'s?? Now with those 2 mach 5 12" subs what would be a quality amp to run 'em on considering the budget??

I am starting to lean toward getting a new amp also upping the budget too make everything worth it. Thanks for everyones help so far. Are the mach 5's better than audiobahn products? Im running one audiobahn se 15.. its not too loud with my amp, and i have a feeling its a piece of shit.
