Subs question

I went from 2 10"s Circles to 2 15" Squares and really noticed that the larger ones don't get all the notes that the smaller ones did, but they are like 10x as loud. I always wanted to get some bigger subs (like 18"s) but now I dunno if that is the best.

Now I'm not your average dick who has them on max at stops lights ect.(Unless there is someone else with their subs on high and I blow them away) I usually only bump them with little or none people around, but I'm wondering what is better to grab a couple 18"s with a pair or 2 of smaller subs, or just mass a bunch of smaller subs for both quality and loudness, suggestions?

Another question about sub placement, should I always have them at the back facing the rear of the vehicle, or if I put them elsewhere will it sound worse?

And 1 last question, these videos I see of people with 4 larger subs drawing 10,000 watts each along with 5 alternators, how is the possible? The largest alternator I could find is 105 amps, and they couldn't even come close to powering one of them, let alone 5 of them powering 4 subs. How do they do it?

But the larger subs don't get all the notes? I got Kickers and the 15" S don't hit what my old 10"s used to.
I'm assuming you have a different box now. That has a lot to do with it probably. Tuning, Size etc.

Oh so the box is what matters about the hz, and sub size has no factor on what notes it can hit?
And ported means?
Ported is a Tube or slot usually for the sound to get out of the box. SEaled is just a box with no hole.

Or the proper ported box.
It was the place I got it for custom made the box, I guess next time I should just buy the box straight from kicker?

What would happen if I blocked the hole off with a piece of wood? Or is that a moronic idea?

No don't buy a prefab. Don't block the hole off either.

I just noticed that, If you are wondering if mixing 10 with 18's is a good idea generally speaking it isn't. It can produce cancellation with the sound waves.

Did any body mess with your amp? Adjust your subsonic filter or anything like that?

My box is tuned real high so I have my subsonic filter turned up so I don't hit the lows all that well.
