ok here goes
I bought a new amp cuz my old amp will no longer output power.
my new amp is the JL TMA T1000.1 1000w @ 1 ohm mono block. I have two alpine type-r's hooked up to this in parallel at 1 ohm. This was my previous setup as well with the old Cadence TXA-1000d.
Now, i hooked everything up and the amp turned on, started bumpin, then i tried setting my gains. I went halfway but it still sounded too low, and at this poiunt i have the bass boost at 3/4 up. i turn the gain up and it barely gets any louder and i put it up all the way and same thing happens. it is not outputting as much power as it supposed to. then the bass cut out with a pop noise, went into protection mode and turned back on, pop, protection mode, repeat.
so i turn the gain level down to 1/2, same popping cycle. i turn it down to 1/3 and it stays and hits bass steadily. however it is still too low. i figure it cant be right, this amp cannot be overheating at 1/2 gain up and my subs are fine.
what can this be from?
specs:
TMA T1000.1 1000w @ 1 ohm amp
2 Alpine Type-Rs wired at parallel @ 1ohm
4ga battery/ground. I have a 4ga wire running from the + battery terminal with inline 100a fuse 6 in from the terminal and then to the amp. i have a 4ga wire running from the amps ground terminal straight to the battery's - negative terminal rather than the chassis of the car. I was able to do this my car is a bimmer and the battery is in the trunk, lucky me, lol.
i got 10ga wires running from the amp to the subs. all connections are tigh and solid. I just have not checked the sub connections inside the box cuz im too lazy.
ohh and btw i have a hole in one of my subs, it the size of half the diameter of a dime. it just punctured thru the paper/foam, i noticed it a few days ago, but before i got my amp today, my subs have not been used in like 6-8 months. just weight in my trunk. the popping however does not come when the subs are hitting, the bass just cuts out, the subs pop, amp goes into protection mode, if the gain is above 1/3 up which is ridiculous. anything lower 1/3 gain the subs play fine, but its just too low.
any suggestions? thx
