i have 3 12w6v2's in a sealed box around 4.5-5 cubes (its fiberglass so I cant really measure it exact). I put the parameters in winisd and its shows a pretty flat line. they are getting around 500wrms each.

I set the gains and started playing some music and notice that the bass is really quiet and then would just explode on certain notes. I put in a test tone cd and realized that around 40-45 hz it has a ridiculus peak.

Is this the only thing I can do is to play with my EQ in my head unit (pioneer p6500dvd) and set it lower at 40hz? all the settings are currently at 0.

Its a fiberglass box and im wondering that maybe I didnt seal the box up goodenough or something?? Any thoughts?

Are you sure its actually peaking in db's or just "sounds" like its peaking. With a sealed box its odd that you have a peak but some cars have a resonant freq. of avout 40hz so maybe thats it. Also try filling your box with fiberfill to smooth out your response and extend the lower frequency response.

well i dont have the means to get it measured, but it extremely louder at around 40 than any other frequency. this my third setup in this car and none of them were anywhere like this.

its extremely bad. I will be playing a song at almost full volume and the bass will have a nice steady quiet(ish) beat and then out of nowhere it will play a note that just explodes out of nowhere and drowns the entire car with bass. its really ****ing annoying.

it also seems to do it a little more noticable with the windows up. the cars is a 2 dr blazer.

pics of the setup can be seen here

that doesnt sound right. what is your low pass set to? is there a high pass turned on?

jimj, would you agree a smaller vehicle is best to use for peaking low? hatchback or trunk? seems like my ***** am peaks around 40-42 hz

smaller cars peak higher, bigger cars peak lower.

Pretty much all you can do is EQ the hell out of it.

my eq in my head unit isnt the greatest.... the thing is when had the same speakers in a different box with a different amp(viper2500.1) they didnt sound like this, they were louder and sounded perfect.

i was thinking they dont sound the same because they are alot closer to my ears. before they were in a solid made box facing back like a normal setup.

i am really upset with how these subs are sounding. what can I do?

nice truck by the way
thanks...

the subsonic is set at the lowest it goes, 15hz and the LPF is set at around 100hz. some songs will play and will barely have any bass or have none at all, songs with constant low bass notes.

and I listen to a lot of rap and alot of the songs that should have constant low notes arent loud at all and im really pissed off.

the amp is a opti2000d REFURB, maybe the crossover inside the amp is off??????
