Subs in the backseat AND the trunk - what do you think?

I'm currently running 2x10 memphis pr's in a sealed box powered by a sony xplod...underpowered but surprisingly sound good right now.

I can get used 2x12 alpine type r's with a sealed box for $110. Planning to power these with a hifonics brz1700.1D @ 1ohm

If I were to place the alpine's in the backseat with the memphis' in the trunk, would this be too much? Trying to go all out.

This way, I can sell one of the amps and one of the box sets ups later but still have a sub system to use. I'm not sure how much would someone would pay for the memphis/sony xplod set up, but I'm guessing not that much. What do you guys think?

Not a good idea to mix subwoofers....having subs in cabin and in trunk you will get sound problems with different subs with different frequency responses and different enclosures

Out of the two choices u listed I would sell the Memphis 10's and xlpod amp and get the Alpine 12's but with a BRZ model hifonics amp....not much Moe expensive imo

How much you think I can get for my current set up? The xplod is about $130 at Walmart and the subs and the box was $250 out the door. I got them New Years Eve so it hasn't been a year...

Yeah the type r's are probably my favorite after the Pioneer TS-W3002D4 in the 100 to 150 dollar range

I would say not much on here....but locally you might be able to squeeze $200 out of a novice audio kid lol

Also if you want just 'loud'......look into the kicker 12" L7's (the 08 models).......in my opinion they get louder and lower than the type R's and I think can be had for about $150 a piece.......type R's sound a little cleaner however but not by much......either are good however.....

Don't go with the L7 or the L5. Can have so much better for the price. Also I would just sell your current setup and come up with a budget you want to spend then come back and here and we can recommend you some equipment that you'll be much happier with and also still have a good resale value in case you decide to upgrade later on.

You should just sell the memphis/sony setup for what ever you can get. Then pick up the R's and make sure they are in a good enclosure. If not build/buy a new one to work for your application. As for the amp, find one that is decent that fits your budget.

As everyone else has said on here.... no.

Definitely get rid of that memphis and sony crud. You might be able to get $200 for it on craigslist for a newbie. Not gonna find anyone on here that would buy it though.

For budget, mainstream brands, the Type R is a good sub as long as you don't pay full retail for it. Just do yourself a favor and never buy anything for car audio from wal-mart again.

I suppose a pair of them in an enclosure at that price isn't too bad, if they are in good shape. 99% chance though the enclosure is poorly designed and will inhibit the performance of the subwoofers.

As for the amp, what's your budget? We can probably find something a bit better in the power and monetary requirements.

Found 3rd gen two type r 12's in a decent box for $110...i know anything xplod is pretty ****** but it was a gift

i want to spend $200 to $230 on an amp and found hifonics brz1700.1D to be the best...the rms is cea certified and the power is very good whether i get 2x12's or a 15'

i think i need to do the big 3 and upgrade all my wiring to 1/0 though...how much would that run me

p.s. i paid $350 out the door to buy 2x10 memphis pr dvc 4ohm w/ a sealed box AND install 2 6.5 speakers, 2 6x9 speakers, 1 amp, jensen uv10 flip out head unit....did i get ripped off or was that a good deal?

brz is a decent amp for its price I would try and find a better used amp at same price lvl but thats just me.... As far as how much will 0awg run you well that depends on how much you need LOL. 30ft is a safe number and just buy CCA from Knu..

it's really hard to find an amp at that price with cea certified power though...the type r's is gonna want a total of 1000rms and i like to overcompensate lol

knukonceotz sounds like he got good prices

Well in that sense not all amps HAVE TO BE CEA compliant... I.E. Sundown, AQ, Crescendo, SD, Cactus, Stetsom... see where I'm going here?

I wouldn't sweat "CEA Compliant" if you do the research on them and find they ARE putting out true rms power.
