SUBS help

I have 2 12" JVC subs that have 1000 watt max power 500watt Rms and i was wondering if a kicker 1200.1 would work good or if it would be too much, and if it is too much then what kind of amp would be best

You should post up the model # of the sub and or the number of voice coils on the sub. Sometimes it is easy to extrapolate what you have by the description but many times if the driver is an older model it may be quite difficult to find the appropriate info on it.

If those subs are single voice coils, more than likely you'll only be able to take the impedance load of the amp to two ohms which will give you 600 watts from that amp.

If this is the case I would say that amp would be perfect. I think those subs are a little over rated on their power handleing.

yeah, pay attention to the bold...hahaha. ANYWAYS, i personally would not buy that amp for those subs. It is a GREAT amp...but with the subs you have...i would be afraid of overpowering them AT ALL. now, if u buy that amp and sell ur subs to buy new subs....then u'd be great. Like better higher quality subs...also chances are there are other amps that will give the same power as the kicker and be cheaper.

NGSM13, Has a point... You do need better woofers, but I think the issue was about the purchase of amp. You can always upgrade your woofers.

Hands down... MORE POWER IS ALWAYS BETTER!!!
