Subs have a break in period?

Yes there is a break in period but if your putting rms power I wouldnt mind turning it up to max unclipped volume it's when you plan on running more then rms your not gonna wanna drop a 20hz note at full tilt the spiders will hate you lol and that's where you run risk of ripping soft parts

Even though RMS is completely box dependent? And I dont think there is any music out that has 20 hz tones in it...

I always looked at break in periods as more of a safety guard for the manufacturer. I've always beat the Holy Hell out of my subs from the get-go and haven't had a problem yet...

I had 5 little tears in my Fi BTL from beating the **** out of it fresh out the box.. the spiders were stiff as hell though... I just installed a skar vvx 12.on 2k and beat the hell out of it with no tears, smells, or creaking.. its sub dependant also... If its stiff be careful and take it easy for a week or too..

We have covered this topic several times including s long debate between myself and aholic in one of them. Break in has nothing to do with keeping the sub from failing/damaging it's self. It will alter the way the plays as it loosens up though.

The main goal for the "break in period" is a loop whole for companies around the warranty.
