subs fighting eachother

my friends subs are in a box and in front of the subs there is plexiglass or some kinda hard plastic and like when they hit they go different directions, one goes in and one goes out like they are fighting eachother. what exactly is happening? why does it do that?

i thought that was normal. All the subs i've seen one has gone in while the other goes out, and i always thought that was just a normal part of subwoofers....is it bad for them to be out of phase?

Well, basically if they are out of phase and there is no divider between the subs, they will cancel out or sound like crap. just switch the wiring on the incorrect sub.

Yes, or it could mean that one sub is not working all together. This would also cause subs to hit in opposite directions.

Yes, that is true also. One sub will still move the other if they are in the same chamber.

And in some cases, if the sub is in a completely diffent chamber altogether...

I had my SE 15 up all the way and it moved the JL 12w2 that I was transporting almost 3/4 an inch

if the 2 subz are 100% opposate in firing it means you have one of the subs wired backwords, just switch the polarities for one of em, it doesnt matter which and this will be corrected, when they do this they should almost intirely cancle eachother out

another idea is that you have the subs wired as right and left channel and your deck is distributing right and left bass and for some reason there different.

or if one sub is dead then the air will move the other in and out

not necessarily, you just cant have your subs out of phase from each other even if they are in separate chambers its not a brilliant plan

not a terrible plan eather considering it wouldent change anything affecting phase, i didnt mean that in the sence that it would fix his problem, i ment it as its easier to work with and its easier to figure out what the problem is in the first place

seperate chambers for your subs is a good idea. it will increase output, help with diagnosing problems, and strengthen the box as well.

bah!! v8 sho's ****, you only gain a few HP, lose torque, and gain a lot of wieght from the older v6 ones...and you cant get a 5 speed...gay!!, but its cool that someone else on here knows someone that has an SHO that is not even related to mine at all.
