Subs face away from car or toward the inside?

I want to install a sub in my system, I see a lot of people face their subs away from the car (cones facing the opening of the trunk). Why is this? will it be better if the cones face the inside of the car?

it really depends, try it both ways and use what you like

if the subs face the rear of the car the trunk acts as another enclosure

i have a 94 corolla wit 2 12 hxs's runnuing of a 600 watt mtx amp in a sealed box. i had it facing the rear but i switched it towards the car and its much louder.

Will if you face the sub toward the trunk and the trunk has some kind of deadening material it make the trunk into one big bass camber.

alright juvinil i remember you being on here a long time ago saying you had 2 W7's and now you have HX2's i don't believe it. anyway it really depends on the vehicle and the design of the car. if you have an SUV like i do i put my subs facing the rear and yeah it was louder but they didn't seem to hit very tight and clean. then i put them flat down on the back facing straight up at the roof and they sounded almost as loud but a ton cleaner.

I heard something at my local car audio shop...bout the speed of sound and da da da...so it is suppoed to sound metter, or louder, one of the other if u face the subs out..
