Subs cutting off

every once in a while whenever im blasting my system, my subs will just go off and stop producing bass and only sound will be coming out of my stock door speakers, this happens whenever ive been blasting it real loud for a long time like an hour or so, anyone know why this happens? i have 2 12" L7's and a kx1200.1 and 4 gauge wire

Sounds like your amp may be overheating and going into thermal protection. Is it mounted to get adequate ventilation?

yea its mounted to the back of my box but my box is huge and sometimes it gets shoved into my back seat whenever i drive so that probably could be why but i have no other choice, i have no room anywhere else whatsoever

and sometimes the sound will stay off for like 5 minutes and then randomly come back on for like 10 seconds and go back off again, does this sound like an overheating problem?

I had that happen too. The sub smoked few days later.

No, My friend sat on the volume changer and turned it up allll the wayy beyond distortion and took me awhile to turn it down. I had the sub for a year prior to the incident
