Subs cutting off? Help please.

Hey guys I got my first install finished and it all went well, I fine tuned my stereo and amp and it seems to be running fine except my subs cut off at about 20 volume when it goes up more than that. Sometimes it's about 19 and sometimes it's about 24 depending on the song. I'm not sure why it's doing this as I'm not very experienced. All the help is appreciated, thanks a lot.

I have a Pioneer GM-5500T Amp

Sony CDX-GT565UP stereo.

2 12" MTX Subs.

If you need any more information just say, thanks again guys.

Do you know how to set gain? All boost and loudness off? Good ground? Do you know what a good ground is?
Gain was set well, loudness = off, bass boost is at 6 of 0,6,12, it is grounded to a sketchy bolt that I found that was hidden behind the furnishing above the back seats, it looked like it went straight to the chassis. The ground cable I had was very short and this was the only thing I could find in the back of my 2004 cavalier. Could this be the issue?

How was the gain set? And yes that ground could be the problem. Length of the cable is not as important as the location. Are the subs wired to a stable impedance? Turn the boost off.

The gain was set through a tutorial I read, it's not very high, I'm not sure what a stable impedance is, I had a bit of help installing these so I don't know everything, sorry. I will turn the boost off tomorrow after work and then try to find a better ground.. You know of a good ground in a 2003 cavalier? I had a lot of trouble finding one.

Sounds like your amp is going into protect. Theres only usually 2 reasons for this. A bad ground and gains not being properly set.

What size is your power and ground wire?

Is your power and ground wire the same size?

Also does your back seat fold down? If so fold it down and take the plastic panel off and look for a big bolt on the far left or far right and take the nut off, shave the paint off under it, then ground to it.

Mine did this when the tinsel leads went . Same exact thing with 2 builds . Must be my car lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
