Subs choking?

hey guys, I have a pair of beater pioneer 256's 10's...

giving them 400rms each...should be ok, each is rated at 350

they sounded very good the last month or so, but just this past week, they should like they are choking or something....

bass still comes out, they just should like they were stuggleing...

the only thing that comes to mind is that the past week, temps were below zero for the most part...

any ideas (wild or not) that could be causing this?

you have to let your speakers warm up in the cold, your amps love the cold thou
playing your speakers while they are in very cold weather could damage them
even after warming up...

i have no idea...its kinda ghostly cus there doesn't seem to be any logical explaination //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

take em inside one day to let em warm up then put em back in and see if they do the same thing if they dont then its the cold if not its something else

i wonder how long it would take the air inside a sealed box to warm up in the car. might make no difference, but after the inside of the car warms up, i'll bet the air inside a box stays cold for quite a while. i'm not sure if you run sealed, but i do and have often wondered.

The motor in the sub will heat the box up though.

But it seems much more likely the subs are on their way out. How old are they? And what kind of noise is the sub making? Perhaps check your gains again, just to make sure you're not noticing clipping.

:\ not sure what else besides the spider/suspension on the sub going...

well, its still putting out bass but its dirty bass...like its rattlely bass...

its strange because it just started this past week...

its suppose to warm up this weekend to mid 40's so we'll see i guess...

and if that don't work, maybe i just might take everything apart and put it all back together...its a ported box btw...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

here you go,its a good little helper that was said on another forum

"And "warming up" is not related to the vehicle temperature in the cabin. Remember, if you've laid down Dynamat or other deadener, it also isulates from the inside out, so interior temperature has little, if any effect on component temperature. especially at -15. Warm up means initially running your system at low volumes so the mechanical speaker movement warms it's own coils without much cone deflection. Most cone seals will handle temperatures way below anything Mother Nature can supply. Yes, amps love the frosty. "

I found that in the heat of summer with my car, a black hatch with no tint at the time, and it would be over 150 degrees in that *****. Anyways, when i would crank it up, it wouldnt sound as good, but after running down the road with the windows open so it cools off a bit, it seemed to hit better. Odd. I thought density had something to do with it too.
