subs can handle it?

Hey guys,

I hear people recommending some hard hitting rap songs for people to try out on their systems, but then some people say to only play it if you system/sub can handle it. Are their songs that will destroy subs? Will certain subs get ruined by some songs and other subs play it fine? Is there any way, other than trying the song out, to find out if a certain song can "safely" be played without blowing your subs?

Cause i wanna try out the song "my system" by daz dillinger and "hoods run down" by lil wyte (dont have them yet but im dling it) but im not sure if a type r could handle them?

it depends on the install, enclosure, gain setting, bass boosts, eq's, filter settings, etc. too vague. i gathered that you have a type R

do you have a ported box? if so you need to set your sub sonic filter and you should be fine

yea i got a ported box tuned to alittle below 37hz fb (alpine recommends 36 hz fb but i tuned higher for rap)

and i have an alpine mrp-m500 amp..it has a built in SSF at 15hz...i cant change it. think thats good enough? i heard "hood run down" gets down to 16hz in the beginning, but i prob wouldnt turn my stereo up loud at all in the beginning when it gets that low.

and yea ill test em out and see how it goes

yeah the show in Vegas...Blue Man Group. they made an audio album in 1999 called Audio. Very nice percussion and sounds for SQ stuff and a REAL taxing section in the last song.

yea your right..it does sound like it would pound when hooked up to a nice sub or two, just listened to it with a nice pair of headphones. i bet with a nice sq system this would sound amazing
