sub upfiring or downfiring under rear truck seat?

I am going to build my own ported enclosure to go under the rear seat of my truck to try and acheive about .8 to 1 cu ft of air space for a 10" sub.

I'm not after high SPL but do prefer for lower frequencies to be more audible than what a sealed setup offers.

Truck is a 2008 sierra ext cab.

Looking at the prefabs, q power and pro box offer upfiring while the rest of the pre fabs are downfiring.

I can achieve more airspace if I do upfiring with a fiberglass bottom along the floor.

Which is better for sound output?

Or which is less likely to cause cancellation issues.

I would say don't go prefab unless your goes to run sealed and you know what your buying in terms of quality and cubic feet. If you want to run ported for sure have a enclosure custom made. Not sure about the cancellation part but I'm in the process of building a enclosure that lays on top of my seats lol. Will see how it goes.

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...
